My Story: local people have their own stories to tell.
My Testimony As a child my Nanna would read the Bible and pray with me. I was bullied at school, shy and a loner but I would take myself into the school library and read the Bible and not feel alone. I attended Sunday school at the local church and Pathfinders but I drifted away from God and focussed upon music and playing the cornet in several brass bands. In 1986 I started work caring for the elderly and in 1987 I started a relationship with a man who became my husband in August 1990. However, my husband was unfaithful and we had a rocky marriage. When Aaron was fourteen months old, my husband had another affair with my best friend who became pregnant. This was the ultimate betrayal and I filed for divorce. At this point I needed an injunction against my husband but one night he came into our home and took our joint possessions. I went to live with my parents with only a bin liner of clothing. I'd moved house, changed jobs and filed for divorce. My world had fallen apart. However, in December 2002 I started to attend my local church and I found comfort and inner peace there. I developed a relationship with my spiritual mum, spending quiet times together in prayer. She told me "Jesus loved me!" God healed me of my bitterness and I was now able to forgive my ex-husband. God directed me to study and I went to LearnDirect, three mornings a week whilst Aaron went to the college creche. I continued to work part-time with the elderly in a local residential home but after over twenty years caring for the elderly I changed my career to work with children, as I felt God calling me to do. I continued to attend church and went to several before settling at Edenthorpe Pentecostal Church, where I feel like I am experiencing spiritual growth. My son attends Sunday school, Treasure Kids and a Church of England School. I owe my life to God for being my comforter, counsellor, teacher and provider and for structuring, shaping and developing my life. So I want to dedicate my life to him, "off with the old self and on with the new", being born again in baptism in the name of Jesus.
